Barn & Farm
One thing we have learned from our clients (Administrators and Recreation Therapists) is that many of their residents in memory care have had some connection to farm or rural living in their past. Even if their later years were spent in the suburbs or in a city, for many, their life harkened back to simpler times and that connection to the earth.
With this knowledge, we have expanded our mural offerings to include farm imagery designed to stir those deep-seated, early memories.
First up
Farm imagery for walls without a chair rail
A miniature barn symbolizes the larger version. For our purposes, it could be a hen house or a shed, but all the “ingredients” are there to stimulate memories of life on the land. Use these murals to encourage conversation or to distract a resident who may be having a bad day. Visitors also appreciate having a destination to arrive at!
Next
for walls with a chair rail
A reposing cat and dog help to form this serene scene, designed to incorporate a care home’s own chair rail. Both of the above murals sit on top of the skirting board at the base of the wall.
Other Options

“Farm Fresh”
The Farm Discussion Board
A fun way for staff and visiting family to interact with resident farmers. Mural measures 10 feet wide X 4 feet tall. Designed to be applied above chair rail.
(may be adjusted somewhat to fit a care home’s space)
Interactive Farmyard Mural
Interactive Market Stand
The final stop of a farmer’s produce - the “Farmer’s Market”. Fruit and vegetables may be placed from the basket* on the wall into the baskets on the mural via magnets. The idea is to match them with the existing images on the mural.
*style of basket varies according to availability in stock
